FOUNDATION HISTORY

THE ALABAMA STATE VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY AT SPANISH FORT FOUNDATION, INC. is an Alabama nonprofit corporation incorporated on October 25, 2013.  Federal income tax exemption under IRC Section 501(c)(3), filed on June 11, 2014, was granted by the IRS on October 6, 2014.  The Board of Directors is comprised of eighteen unpaid volunteers:  sixteen regular members and two ex-officio members.  The ex-officio   directors are representatives of the local governing Bodies (i.e., one of the four elected Baldwin County AL Commissioners and the Mayor of the City of Spanish Fort AL).  All but one of the regular directors are veterans, most of whom have been appointed as representatives of other Veterans Service Organizations.  Directors are elected to four-year terms, with no successive term limits.

 

FOUNDATION MISSION

The Foundation is an independent, non-government entity,  formed for charitable, literary and educational purposes in support of the ALABAMA STATE VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY AT SPANISH FORT, and in support of other veterans and veterans’ organizations, activities and programs which promote the welfare of the community of veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and which commemorate the honorable service to our country of our veterans.
